Handmade cosmos chess set.
34 handmade ceramic chess pieces (includes an extra queen for each team). pawns 1.5”, queens 2”
vintage hardwood cigar box, slotted lid. 4” x 6.5” x 7.25”
Hand-painted black denim. 20” square board, 1.75” 2” squares
Both teams were made with the same clay. High-fired and sprayed with soda. The light pieces have no glaze applied prior to firing, and reflect completely the atmosphere of the kiln.
In this set, the queens are suns and the kings are dwarf stars. All the pawns, which have the potential to transform into queens, are stars.
